Xander Zayas vs. Boots Ennis: Junior middleweight title showdown set for June
Jaron Ennis aims to become a two-weight world champion by challenging unified junior middleweight titleholder Xander Zayas in a DAZN pay-per-view event.
- On June 27, unified junior middleweight champion Xander Zayas will defend his WBA and WBO titles against Jaron 'Boots' Ennis at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, ESPN confirmed on Monday.
- Ennis initially targeted a bout with Vergil Ortiz Jr., but legal disputes between Ortiz and Golden Boy Promotions stalled negotiations. With that fight off, Ennis's team secured this matchup after Top Rank signed a broadcasting deal with DAZN.
- Zayas won his WBO title in July 2025 and added the WBA crown in January. The 28-year-old Ennis is a former welterweight champion aiming for titles in a second weight class at 154 pounds.
- Matchroom Chairman Eddie Hearn called the bout an occasion that "brings the very best out of a future pound-for-pound #1." Zayas stated he is ready to face "one of the sport's biggest names" on June 27.
- The bout will be broadcast live and exclusively on DAZN PPV, as Ennis aims to "step and collect these belts" with promoter Hearn eyeing a potential future matchup against Ortiz if Ennis wins.
