The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission issued an urgent request Tuesday morning asking all 1.9 million customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties to restrict water consumption to essential purposes following a power outage at its Potomac Water Filtration Plant.

WSSC Water: Essential Water Use Only in Montgomery County

A power problem at the Potomac Water Filtration Plant, which supplies about 75 percent of WSSC Water customers, prompted an immediate essential-use-only request across Montgomery and Prince George's counties. Water is safe and there is no boil advisory.
