Writer reflects on America’s current political climate

To the editor: I am an American citizen of Italian ancestry. I’ve lived, worked, raised my children and paid my taxes in the U.S. for all of my adult life.  My skin is darker than most white people, especially in the summer. Throughout my life, I’ve been asked if I was Hispanic. News reports of ICE raids and of regular folks being asked to see their “papers” are frightening.
