The UCP’s decision to reject the recommendation of an independent boundaries commission and appoint a committee with a majority of UCP MLAs to draw the maps instead should worry us all. Under first-past-the-post, small shifts in boundaries can have major consequences for parties, and the existence of non-partisan riding boundaries relies on the ruling party to play fair.  Like so many democratic norms in Canada, the glue that keeps them in place
