World’s last ocean-going paddle steamer returns to Cornwall
The 240-foot paddle steamer will carry up to 750 passengers on cruises from Fowey to Plymouth, Mevagissey, Penzance and Padstow.
The world's last seagoing paddle steamer, The Waverley, launched her 2026 sailing season from Glasgow this month, marking 80 years since her 1946 debut.
Operated by Waverley Excursions Ltd, the ship underwent a £1.5 million winter refit and is registered on The National Historic Fleet as a 'national treasure'.
Capable of holding about 750 passengers, the steamer will visit ports across the UK this year, including the Clyde Coast, Inner Hebrides, South Cornwall, and the Thames Estuary.
During the upcoming bank holiday weekend, the vessel will call at Fowey, Mevagissey, and Penzance in South Cornwall, offering nostalgic voyages for passengers.
The steamer will visit the Thames Estuary between September 24 and October 11, with tickets for anniversary cruises available at the Waverley Excursions website.
