World Economic Forum Probe of Klaus Schwab Finds Unauthorized Spending, Inappropriate Behavior
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, JUL 23 – An internal probe found Klaus Schwab misused over $1.1 million in World Economic Forum funds and pressured staff to alter economic reports, while fostering a culture of intimidation and favoritism.
- On July 23, 2025, Homburger found misuse of WEF funds and inappropriate conduct toward female staff.
- Prompted by whistleblower complaints, the WEF board commissioned the probe in April, following a prior Holder-led inquiry.
- Amid the probe, Homburger revealed report manipulation, The Wall Street Journal reported, and Schwab’s investigation found political interference in the Global Competitiveness Report.
- Klaus Schwab said `I am in a position to refute all the accusations brought up against me`, while threatening counter-investigations into trustees and whistleblowers.
- By the end of August, Homburger is expected to deliver its report to WEF trustees and regulators, coinciding with invitations for the 2026 Davos summit.
