Work in the office or in the workshop can become a torture at over 30 degrees. In schools there is no heat, but the labour law does not know this word. However, employees are not completely without legal protection – an overview.
The Silver Thread Association calls on the relevant ministries and other responsible parties to implement the widest possible public awareness campaign regarding measures to prevent and mitigate the more severe consequences of the heat wave. They express particular concern for the elderly. Daily warning, self-protective behavior, and good hydration can prevent many health complications.
The Arbeiterkammer Wien calls for measures to protect against heat at the workplace from 30 degrees Celsius or heat-warning level yellow according to the STOP principle.
A decree in force since 1 July calls on employers to take measures for employees, such as the increase in fresh drinking water, the provision of personal protective equipment or the organisation of working time and conditions.
