Wong, Duran propel Red Sox to 9-1 victory over Guardians
Connor Wong and Jarren Duran each drove in three runs as Boston scored the final nine runs and Cleveland committed a season-high four errors.
On Saturday, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians 9-1, with Jarren Duran hitting a three-run homer and Connor Wong driving in three runs to lift the visitors.
Boston starter Sonny Gray earned his sixth win, allowing one run over six innings, while the Central-leading Guardians took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Jose Ramirez double.
Cleveland committed a season-high four errors, including two by The All-Star Ramirez, allowing the Red Sox to tie the game in the fourth on a Caleb Durbin sacrifice fly.
Six runs in the ninth inning against reliever Will Dion pushed the lead out of reach, as Wong tacked on a two-run single while Duran launched his three-run homer.
The Guardians lost outfielder Angel Martinez to left foot inflammation during the fifth inning, while Boston LHP Ranger Suarez faces Cleveland RHP Tanner Bibee in the series finale.
