STORRS, Conn. – DePaul track and field opened the 2026 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships with a sweep of the hammer throw titles as graduate students Alex Bernstein and Elena Opp claimed conference crowns Thursday at Sherman Sports Complex. Competing in the final BIG EAST meet of their careers, the veteran duo combined for 20 points to pace the Blue Demons on day one.
Women’s Track Competes In Day 1 Of BIG EAST Track Championship
STORRS, Conn. – The Providence College women's track team travelled to UConn in Storrs Conn., for Day 1 of the BIG EAST Outdoor Track Championship. The competition takes place from May 14-16 at the Sherman Sports Complex. Sophomore Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia), became the 10th Friar all-time and first since 2022 to win the BIG EAST 10,000 meters. She earned All-BIG EAST honors and won the race in a time of 33:43.63.
