Alpha Epsilon Pi said it is cooperating as Area One detectives investigate the alleged attack, and the victim was treated at a nearby hospital.
A 21-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted at a fraternity house near the University of Chicago in the 5600 block of South University Avenue around 2 a.m. on Sunday, according to Chicago police.
According to a University alert, the incident occurred during a party at the fraternity house in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Area One detectives are currently investigating the report.
After the alleged assault, the victim self-transported to Chicago Medical Center for treatment. Police in Chicago have not released additional information regarding the suspect.
Chief Communications Officer Jonathan Pierce said the chapter is "working cooperatively with the university administration and local law enforcement." Pierce added, "Pending the results of that investigation, the chapter has been told to not hold any events or programs."
Fraternity officials stressed the organization strictly prohibits "sexual harassment" or "sexual assault," with every member receiving mandatory training. Violations of their "Brothers' Keepers" values may lead to expulsion.
