- According to court documents, Walsh told officers she killed Barrett because he was the "devil" and the "anti-Christ" while experiencing a mental health crisis and attempting to harm herself before a neighbor intervened.
- Walsh had discussed the Clancy case with friends via text until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to court documents obtained by WLS; a neighbor later discovered the toddler unresponsive in the basement and found Walsh in the bathroom with a knife.
- Preliminary autopsy results from the Will County Coroner indicate Barrett died from asphyxia due to ligature compression of the neck; Walsh is held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility awaiting a detention hearing.
- Defense attorney Andrea Lyon said Friday that Walsh was experiencing a "psychotic episode" during the incident, describing the death as "a tragedy for the Walsh family all of whom are mourning the loss of this child.
