Batesville Woman Charged with Attempted Murder by Bombing
LAFAYETTE COUNTY AND PANOLA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, AUG 5 – Christina Laureen Willis faces multiple charges after placing a live homemade bomb on a car and investigators found additional explosives, firearms, and narcotics at her residence.
- On June 20, 2025, Lafayette County Sheriff's Office and ATF arrested Christina Laureen Willis, 27, of Batesville, on attempted murder and bomb placement charges.
- On June 20, 2025, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division and the ATF launched a joint probe after deputies responded to a suspicious package on a vehicle in southwestern Lafayette County.
- Following the investigation, bomb technicians from the Tupelo Bomb Squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed the package contained a `live, homemade explosive device` and safely detonated it in a secure area on June 23.
- On August 4, 2025, authorities executed a warrant at a Panola County residence, uncovering bomb-making materials, firearms, narcotics and another homemade explosive device, said Lafayette County Sheriff Joey East.
- The ATF plans to present the case to a federal grand jury, and Willis could face additional federal charges while held in the Panola County Jail pending transfer to the Lafayette County Detention Center.
