Woman, 28, dies after being accidentally kicked in head by crowd surfer at concert, family says
Loved ones said she was accidentally kicked in the head by a crowd surfer and later suffered a brain bleed and two strokes.
- On Tuesday, St. Charles High School attendance secretary Danielle Uskiwich died following complications from a head injury sustained at Pointfest on May 16, when she was accidentally kicked by a crowd surfer.
- Hospitalized for severe headaches, Uskiwich underwent treatment after doctors discovered a brain bleed. The 28-year-old subsequently suffered two strokes and was placed in a medically induced coma to monitor brain swelling.
- Before her role at St. Charles High School, Uskiwich worked at Hardin Middle School, where she dedicated herself to building relationships with students, parents, and staff. Hardin Middle School said she was "a kind face who greeted our visitors."
- Uskiwich's family honored her memory through organ donation, and hospital staff conducted an honor walk before transporting her to Mid-America Transplant in St. Louis.
- Fundraiser organizer Kristin Shelton shared that the community's outpouring of support overwhelmed the family. "It is with absolutely shattered hearts that we share that our beautiful Danielle passed away," Shelton wrote in an update.
