Wolves Fire Coach Rob Edwards After Relegation From the Premier League
Wolves sacked manager Rob Edwards on Thursday after seven months in charge, following the club's relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.
Hired in November to replace Vitor Pereira, Edwards was unable to stabilize the team, which finished bottom of the Premier League with 20 points after eight years in the top flight.
Executive chairman Nathan Shi told the club website the decision was not about professionalism but about providing Wolves the "strongest platform" for future success from a sporting perspective.
Reports indicate Wolves will replace Edwards with Gil Vicente coach Cesar Peixoto, who guided his Portuguese side to sixth place in the Primeira Liga last season.
New signings Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez signal Wolves' continued commitment to rebuilding as the club prepares for the upcoming season in the second-tier Championship.
