- Combat features a momentum mechanic that rethought stamina alongside a best-in-class 'morale' system encouraging exploration. Players execute a 'critical parry' with shorter effective windows but greater stamina damage, similar to a 'burst counter' with more utility.
- Level design is more vertical and open, reflecting lessons internal studios learned during Ninja Gaiden 4 development. This creates aerial chains and combos that modify standard attacks throughout gameplay.
