WNBA Adding Six Regular-Season Games Starting in 2027
The new collective bargaining agreement allows up to 50 games for the next two seasons and up to 52 games starting in 2029.
Starting in 2027, the WNBA will expand its regular-season schedule to 50 games, marking the most games played in the League's 30-year history.
A collective bargaining agreement ratified earlier this year permits this expansion, responding to growing fan demand and investment in the WNBA, Commissioner Cathy Engelbert stated.
Securing a $2.2 billion media deal, the CBA establishes the WNBA's first $1 million salaries and raises the salary cap to $7 million per team from $1.5 million in 2025.
Three expansion teams join the League: Cleveland in 2028, Detroit in 2029, and Philadelphia in 2030, each gaining three additional home games annually.
The League holds an option to expand to 52 regular-season games beginning in 2029, while the season's end extends to Nov 21 in 2027 and Nov 30 starting in 2028.
