Wizz Air to launch major expansion in Spain
The expansion will create about 150 jobs and lift Valencia capacity 76% to 3.6 million seats, Wizz Air said.
- On July 8, 2026, Wizz Air announced a major expansion in Spain, establishing its first two aircraft bases in Valencia and Madrid for the winter 2026/27 season, including domestic flights within the country.
- The expansion creates around 150 jobs for pilots and cabin crew, while capacity in Valencia will rise 76 per cent to 3.6 million seats and Madrid capacity will increase 48 per cent to 4.8 million seats.
- Starting in November, the carrier will operate five domestic routes from Valencia, including daily flights to Palma and Bilbao , plus connections from Madrid to Asturias and Santiago de Compostela .
- Additionally, Wizz Air will add three new destinations in Spain from London-Luton on October 27, 2026, including Malaga , Asturias, and Granada , serving 11 different destinations from UK airports.
- Each base will receive two Airbus A321neo aircraft, allowing the airline to operate more routes from Spain rather than relying on flights from other European bases.
