Child Died After Becoming Distressed in Hersheypark Wave Pool: Officials
- On Thursday, July 24, at The Boardwalk wave pool, a 9-year-old girl was pulled limp, later pronounced dead at a hospital, with 10 lifeguards on duty. The incident is Hersheypark's second fatality in 119 years.
- Until this week, no one had died at Hersheypark since 1977, when William Harter died, making this the second fatality in its 119-year history.
- Following rescue efforts, the child was rushed to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, with park officials saying over 100 E&A-trained lifeguards on duty and 10 dedicated to the wave pool executed an immediate rescue.
