Southwest Airlines Is Coming to Wine Country In April 2026
Southwest Airlines expands its California network to 14 airports, offering daily flights to four popular destinations with varied frequency, enhancing regional connectivity.
- Southwest Airlines announced it will start service on April 7, 2026, at Charles M. Schulz‑Sonoma County Airport with nonstop flights to San Diego, Burbank, Las Vegas and Denver, and tickets available Sept. 11.
- The move expands Southwest’s California footprint by adding STS as its 14th city, responding to local demand and boosting Sonoma County’s airport offerings.
- Southwest said the San Diego and Las Vegas legs will operate daily, including two San Diego roundtrips on peak days, while Hollywood Burbank Airport runs five days weekly and Denver service is Saturdays only.
- After Avelo Airlines suspended service in August, Southwest restores two cut routes and raises Sonoma County airport's carrier count to three, joining Alaska Airlines and American Airlines.
- The announcement positions Southwest to further expand in California as it links Wine Country to Terminal 1, San Diego, Hollywood Burbank Airport, and serves 100 destinations while planning more soon.
