Electrification of Melkøya: Probably won't be stopped

Frp and SV will continue the fight to stop the electrification of Equinor's gas plant on Melkøya, but disagree on how they will do it.

The majority in the Storting will not stop the electrification of new oil platforms with power from land in Central Norway. This paves the way for power equivalent to Trondheim's annual consumption to be sent offshore.

There is a majority in the Storting in favor of electrifying the Melkøya plant after both the Liberal Party and the Christian Democratic Party (KrF) reversed course on the issue, VG reported on Tuesday afternoon. However, shortly afterwards, the Liberal Party said that this was not true.
