Will Dump Garbage in Front of Houses of BJP MLAs and Leaders, Says DKS
Deputy CM D K Shivakumar threatened ESMA action and said garbage would be dumped at BJP leaders' homes amid ongoing blockade by villagers near Bengaluru waste sites.
- On Feb 18, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar warned ESMA would be imposed and garbage dumped outside BJP MLAs and leaders if they obstruct disposal, speaking at the KPCC office, Bengaluru.
- Since Tuesday, residents of Bellahalli blocked garbage trucks while Chigaranahalli residents, joined by Dheeraj Muniraju, stopped trucks Wednesday, triggering a wider waste-disposal crisis.
- Accusing some MLAs of profiteering, Shivakumar alleged BJP MLAs use blockades to 'blackmail' the government and cited tenders worth Rs 30,000 to 40,000 crores against a Rs 10,000 crore budget.
- Presently, waste is being disposed in Anekal, Yashwanthpur and Byatarayanapura while the government has purchased two more disposal sites and will decide after legalities are addressed.
- Shivakumar warned disposal can't be stopped and questioned alternative dumping options, responding to villagers citing a recent accident and urging Contractors' Association to file complaints over increased commission allegations.

Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said, "If they (BJP) refuse to allow dumping, then let them keep it. Whoever prevents us from dumping, we will stop collecting garbage in their constituencies, we will not pick up waste from those areas. People will resent them; we will make announcements over loudspeakers."
