Australian Firefighters Arrive to Help Battle Saskatchewan Wildfires
NORTHERN SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA, JUL 15 – Forty firefighters from Australia have arrived and another 40 from Mexico will join later this week to support efforts against 50 active wildfires, Saskatchewan officials said.
- On Tuesday, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency reported 50 active wildfires, saying 40 Australian firefighters have joined local crews with another 40 from Mexico arriving later this week.
- Amid an intense wildfire season, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency said many new fires are sparked by lightning and some by human activity, and two CL-415 aircraft with 100 wildfire personnel arrived from Quebec last week.
