Crews Tackle Wildfire Near Okanagan Falls
Three helicopters are responding as BC Wildfire Service says the Dutton Creek fire has grown to 0.5 hectares and remains out of control.
On Saturday, June 20, the BC Wildfire Service discovered The Dutton Creek fire southeast of Okanagan Falls, located just east of Vaseux Lake off Highway 97.
Lightning is the suspected cause of the blaze, according to BCWS, while officials continue investigating the fire east of Vaseux Lake off Highway 97.
The wildfire has grown to 0.5 hectares in size and is displaying Rank one and two fire behaviour, indicating a smouldering to slow vigorous surface fire with no open flame, BCWS said.
Three helicopters are responding to the out-of-control blaze, while BCWS confirmed no area restrictions or road closures are currently in effect.
The Wildfire Service continues to monitor the situation as the investigation into the fire's cause proceeds with ongoing updates on wildfire status.
