- On Friday, Environment Canada reissued a yellow-level air quality warning for the Okanagan, Thompson, and Kootenay regions, forecasting smoke concentrations may intensify throughout the weekend.
- "Smoke remains evident across the Southern Interior and Southeast," the agency warned, with additional smoke moving northward from wildfires south of the Canada-U.S. border alongside local blazes.
- "In northeastern B.C., smoke from fires farther north continues to move towards the Fort Nelson area," Environment Canada warned; conditions vary considerably hour to hour across affected communities.
- Residents should protect indoor air by keeping windows closed; those venturing outside can reduce exposure using a NIOSH-certified N95 respirator, while vulnerable groups should limit strenuous activity.
- For medical guidance, residents can call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1; for severe symptoms like chest pain or difficulty breathing, seek immediate care or call 9-1-1.
