Multiple Blasts Heard in Kyiv After Missile Alert: AFP
Emergency services were sent to Kyiv’s Shevchenkivsky district after multiple blasts and air raid sirens, and city authorities said at least one person was wounded.
On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, a series of blasts struck Kyiv shortly after midnight, with Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirming the city was "under ballistic missile attack."
Moscow has intensified ballistic missile strikes in recent weeks, which only specific air defense systems, including United States-supplied Patriots, can effectively intercept.
Emergency services deployed to the Shevchenkivsky district following the strikes, while city authorities reported that at least one person was wounded.
In the southeast, Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, reported that Russians wounded at least nine people in a separate missile strike on industrial and residential infrastructure.
President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia is deploying North Korean troops and receiving new missiles, while Ukraine continues its own strikes against Russian cities amid an ongoing PAC-3 shortage.
