Why I love this secret French ski area with 'Little Siberia', and cheap lift passes

The view from the Vercors plateau was straight out of a Studio Ghibli film. Villages, rather than castles, looked as though they were floating in the sky. Clouds rose like steam from the snow-covered valley, hemmed by limestone cliffs on each side. In terms of effort to reward, this was one of the best snowshoeing hikes I’d been on.
