As It Happened: Seán Kyne Takes Galway West Dáil Seat
Kyne gained 214 transfers from eliminated Green candidate Niall Murphy and overtook Noel Thomas on the final count, officials said.
On Sunday, Social Democrats candidate Daniel Ennis was elected as Dublin Central's newest TD, securing 12,050 votes after nearly 16 hours of counting at the RDS.
While Dublin Central concluded, The Galway West byelection count moved into a second day, with a tight contest emerging between Independent Ireland candidate Noel Thomas and Fine Gael's Kyne.
After the fourth count, Thomas holds a 590 vote advantage over Kyne, aided by 578 transfers from Nugent while Kyne received 214 transfers from Green Niall Murphy.
Sinn transfers proved significant, with 720 non-transferable votes impacting the tally, while Fine Gael hopes to claim the seat despite Kyne trailing Thomas.
Labour's Helen Ogbu reached nearly 6,000 votes in the Galway West count, yet faces a difficult path as remaining left-wing candidates are eliminated.
