Oct 10 (Reuters) - The World Health Organization said on Saturday that Russia's state health regulator confirmed the death of a lab worker at a plague research facility in Siberia and had informed the WHO that no case of plague had been registered.
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Saturday that Russian authorities have ruled out plague in the death of a laboratory worker from the Irkutsk region. The cause of death remains unknown. Moscow also assured that no confirmed cases of the disease have been recorded.
A worker at a plague research institute laboratory in Siberia fell ill and died on October 2, under unclear circumstances.
The World Health Organization announced that the Russian state health monitoring body confirmed the death of the laboratory worker, but that no similar cases were registered.
