FL Teen's Stepbrother Faces Murder, Sex Abuse Charges In Cruise Ship Death
Prosecutors say the 16-year-old faces life in prison after a grand jury found he sexually assaulted and killed his stepsister aboard a cruise ship.
- A federal grand jury indicted 16-year-old Timothy Hudson as an adult on first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse charges in connection with the death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship on or about November 6-7, 2025.
- Investigators discovered Kepner's body concealed under a bed in the cabin she shared with her stepbrother and a younger sibling, with the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner determining the cause of death to be mechanical asphyxiation.
- Assistant U.S. Attorney Alejandra López stated in a filing that Hudson "engaged in the most serious, egregious, and violative crimes one person can inflict upon another," noting the teen viewed the victim as a sibling.
- Federal prosecutors are now seeking to place Hudson in pre-trial custody, citing potential danger to others while he currently resides with a relative; lawyers for Hudson have until April 20 to respond to the prosecutor's filing.
- If convicted on the charges, Hudson faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine, with a status hearing regarding custody pending review by District Judge Beth Bloom.
