Whirlpool to open new factory in Perrysburg

The project will create 100 to 150 jobs and convert a former solar-panel building into a hub for washers and dryers parts.

  • On Friday, Whirlpool Corporation announced plans to invest more than $60 million in a new manufacturing facility in Perrysburg, Ohio, expected to create 150 jobs over the next two years.
  • Retrofitting a vacant former solar panel manufacturing building, Whirlpool will install advanced automation to produce appliance components and subassemblies for washers and dryers supporting nearby Ohio operations.
  • U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, present at the announcement, stated the Trump Administration's agenda is "accelerating America's industrial resurgence by reducing trade barriers and ensuring that American workers and businesses can compete on even footing."
  • Perrysburg Mayor Mark Weber called the project "exactly the kind of investment we're proud to see in Perrysburg," marking the start of the city's planned economic development corridor along U.S. 25.
  • This facility represents Whirlpool's 11th U.S. manufacturing site and follows a $300 million investment in laundry operations announced in October, aimed at adding 400 to 600 new jobs.
