The free trade agreement between the European Union and the South American Mercosur states has been under negotiation for 25 years. EU Commission President von der Leyen wants to sign it on Saturday in Brazil - but it needs a clear majority of the EU states beforehand. Not only France has continued to have reservations. Therefore, today's partial vote in the EU Parliament is also watched with excitement.
