'Star Wars' Follows Through on Promise, Pours Energy Into Righting Sequel Trilogy
- Lucasfilm recently updated its interactive Star Wars galaxy map, adding nearly 1,500 new locations including the Outer Rim planet Batuu.
- The original map was developed for The Essential Atlas published in 2009 and was relaunched to better reflect new Star Wars media and lore.
- Scott Trowbridge of Imagineering explained that Batuu was designed as a dynamic spaceport where guests can encounter new characters and stories.
- The map now includes over 500 detailed planets like Ghorman and Exegol, with plans for periodic updates and more regional maps for dense sectors such as the Core and Colonies.
- These updates suggest Lucasfilm aims to maintain an evolving galactic map that supports new storytelling and fan engagement across Star Wars media.
