The tax return season in the United States is already underway, and the Internal Revenue Service expects 164 million people to submit theirs before April 15. Last year’s average refund was $3,167. This year, analysts have projected that it could be $1,000 higher, thanks to changes in tax legislation. Last year more than 165 million individual income tax returns were processed, and 94% were submitted electronically.
