In the NHK historical drama "Toyotomi Brothers!", Shibata Katsuie (Yamaguchi Makiya) is defeated by Hideyoshi (Ikematsu Sosuke) in the Battle of Shizugatake and retreats to his castle in what is now Fukui City. Castle explorer Imaizumi Shinichi says, "When I actually saw the castle where Katsuie set up camp at Shizugatake, I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Katsuie had held out there."
