In 2017, an American photographer, Austin Bell, first arrived in Hong Kong, and was most impressed by... basketball sites! In fact, their design and bright colors, which were completely different from uniform asphalt boxes in the United States. Two years later, Bell came back to create the Shooting Hoops project. In almost six months, the photographer filmed all 2,549 basketball sites in Hong Kong and released a photobook about them in 2025.
