It's been almost three years since the government decided that we should once again produce ammunition in Denmark. Not a single bullet has come out of the gunpowder yet. In the meantime, Ukraine has established several hundred manufacturers of everything from bulletproof vests to drones, which deliver daily to the front.
Bourges in the middle of France, Unterlüss in Lower Saxony in Germany and Stalowa Wola in the south-east of Poland. Three places that until recently experienced industrial decline. But now they are preparing for the opposite. As European governments increase defense spending, cities linked to arms production are reviving. But with the boom comes a downside.
