It sounds like a crazy idea, but it is possible that the plane you take on vacation in a few years will have folding wings. Aircraft manufacturer Airbus is going to test ‘folding wingtips’. It is the first time these folding wings are being installed on a ‘narrowbody’: a single-aisle aircraft used for short to medium-haul flights.
