Westlife's Mark Feehily Suing over Weight Loss Surgery

- Westlife singer Mark Feehily filed a medical negligence claim at the High Court against bariatric surgeon Nick Carter, alleging severe complications from an August 2020 weight-loss procedure.
- According to court documents, Feehily claims Carter failed to remove enough of his stomach during a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy at Spire Portsmouth Hospital, causing recurring sepsis and infections.
- Following severe complications, Feehily underwent a full gastrectomy in 2023 to remove his entire stomach. Carter denies negligence, claiming "leakage was a recognised complication" in approximately 1% of cases.
- The claim is valued at more than £200,000, with court records showing Carter filed a defense in January denying liability. Leigh Day Solicitors confirmed the legal process is ongoing.
- As he continues recovery, Feehily has taken a lighter professional pace, currently hosting Mark Feehily's Musical Icons on Radio 1 following a 2024 health hiatus.
