WEST POINT — At Thursday’s meeting of the West Point Rotary Club, local historian Joe Thompson talked about a Civil War standoff that took place in Troup County 160 years ago this past spring. The son of a former police chief in West Point, Thompson graduated from West Point High and earned degrees at LaGrange College and at Middle Georgia College in Cochran.
