On 27 May 2023, Iris Coëtmen was found dead in a small port in Lorient, Morbihan. At two weeks of the opening of the trial, where a quinquennial who had always denied the facts would appear, an additional information was ordered. His fellow prisoner, Jean-Patern Ars, sentenced last week to 15 years' imprisonment for rape and sexual assault on some 30 victims, said that he had collected the confidences of the accused.
