- On May 7-8, security forces killed 5 militants during two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts, the Inter-Services Public Relations reported Friday.
- Pakistan has experienced a resurgence in terrorism since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021, prompting Islamabad to repeatedly urge the administration to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries.
- During these operations, troops recovered weapons and ammunition from the militants, whom the ISPR identified as members of the Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij, a term the state uses for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
- President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces, stating operations under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam will "continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country."
- The country launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq this February, following a ceasefire breakdown in October 2025, as part of a "relentless" counter-terrorism campaign officials describe as vital to national security.
