The Wayback project wants to create an X11 compatibility layer for Wayland. It will continue to run desktop environments that are absolutely dependent on X11. Although the project is still in the beginning, Alpine Linux is already in love with it. Wayback implements a minimal Wayland compositor, which detonates an XWayland server with root rights. Under it, X11 desktop environments can be started again.
