Man Accused Of Hiding Antioch Woman's Body Picked Up By ICE
WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS, JUL 20 – Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez was re-arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after being released under Illinois' SAFE-T Act despite serious felony charges involving concealment and abuse of a corpse.
- On Saturday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, a 52-year-old Waukegan man, Department of Homeland Security officials announced.
- After his April arrest, Mendoza-Gonzalez walked free under Illinois' SAFE-T Act, as the law ends cash bail and bars pretrial detention for Class 4 felonies, Waukegan Police Department said.
- Police found Bos’s decapitated body April 10 in a bleach-filled container, and an April 11 autopsy determined a fentanyl overdose with no signs of trauma.
- Prosecutors are moving to hold Mendoza-Gonzalez locally rather than through deportation, Lake County State's Attorney Eric Reinhart said, and DHS confirmed he is now held at the Lake County Jail in Waukegan.
