Antonio Returns to English Football with Watford Move
Michail Antonio joins after a month of training and becomes Watford’s 12th summer signing while awaiting international clearance.
- Watford announced the signing of former West Ham United striker Michail Antonio on a free transfer. The 36-year-old joined the Hornets on a one-year contract, pending international clearance for Saturday's Championship home match against Stoke City.
- Antonio spent a 10-year spell at West Ham before his release in June 2025. Following a broken leg suffered in a December 2024 car crash, he spent several months recovering before training with the Hornets for the past month.
- After his recovery, Antonio played two games for West Ham's Under-21 side and had failed moves to Al-Sailiya and Brentford. He made four appearances for the Qatari side in April.
- "Watford is a big club and hopefully I can come in and bring success and help wherever I can," Antonio said. He will wear the number 18 shirt as the 12th summer signing for the Hornets.
- Alessio Dionisi's side currently sits 12th in the Championship, having won two, drawn two, and lost two of their first six games. The team hopes the new forward strengthens their attacking depth.
