Broken Water Pipe Reported at Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge
The Montana National Guard delivered 15,000 gallons of water to maintain inmate access after a pipe break at Montana State Prison, officials said.
- On Friday, the Montana Department of Corrections reported a pipe carrying water from the well house to the main water tank broke at Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge.
- The DOC coordinated with the National Guard, which arrived at 1 p.m. Saturday to help deliver 15,000 gallons from Deer Lodge, Montana.
- Facility staff repaired the break within hours, inmates were not relocated and meals, inmate services and recreation were not affected.
- Once the break is found, the DOC will test the water by the Department of Environmental Quality before inmates can use it, with 50 portable toilets delivered and portable showers ordered for the weekend.
