Yorkshire Water recruits 900 staff to improve services

Since April 2025, over 900 staff have joined to support a programme that repaired 15,000 leaks and replaced 120 km of pipes, benefiting Yorkshire communities.

  • This year Yorkshire Water welcomed more than 900 new colleagues as part of its largest-ever investment programme, Michelle Naisbitt, director of people at Yorkshire Water, said they are central to delivering improvements.
  • The company says the recruitment marks a major milestone in plans to upgrade infrastructure and cut pollution and leakage, building on progress that included more than 200 investment projects in 2025.
  • Operational crews across engineering and customer service drove these improvements, repairing more than 15,000 leaks, upgrading 100,000 smart meters, and delivering £34 million in bill support.
  • A targeted £5.3 million upgrade will rebuild the Paradise Green Pumping Station to serve homes and businesses, with the replacement station site opposite the current location, next to Aldi, decommissioning the old facility.
  • Plans for the coming year prioritise storm overflow reduction and new mains, boreholes and customer-service improvements, and the company is planning further investment to build on recent progress.
