Watchdog files bar complaint against Jeanine Pirro over bid to indict 6 Democratic lawmakers
A legal watchdog filed bar complaints against U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro and two aides for allegedly violating ethical duties in attempting to charge six Democratic lawmakers with federal crimes for appearing in a video urging troops to resist unlawful orders.
The Legal Accountability Center claims Pirro and her subordinates abused prosecutorial powers by pursuing "meritless" indictments against President Donald Trump's perceived political enemies.
A spokesperson for Pirro's office stated that it is the grand jury's role, not prosecutors', to decide on indictments, noting a grand jury previously declined to indict the lawmakers.
The Legal Accountability Center requests bar officials to investigate and consider discipline for Pirro and colleagues over potential professional conduct violations due to prosecutorial misuse of power for political aims.
