After more than a day of travel, the astronauts will cross the atmosphere at an extremely high speed. In the final minutes of flight, their ship will be slowed down by powerful parachutes to land in the Pacific Ocean off California. The "splashdown" is scheduled by the Nasa at 5:34 p.m. Paris time on Thursday.
The French astronaut began his journey back to Earth, after eight months aboard the ISS.
