Walmart recalls 165,000 fabric dressers over tip-over hazard
Walmart is offering full refunds after the unstable dressers failed mandatory safety standards, with no injuries reported, officials said.
On Thursday, The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for about 165,000 Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers sold at Walmart due to instability posing a serious injury or death risk to children.
The dresser violates mandatory safety standards required by the STURDY Act; products can tip and entrap someone if not anchored to the wall, according to the agency.
Measuring about 40 inches long and 45 inches tall, the black metal-framed Mainstays units retailed for about $80 and were sold nationwide from September 2023 through March 2026.
Walmart is offering a full refund to customers who return the drawers and dispose of the frame according to local and state regulations.
No injuries have been reported in relation to the recall; Consumers with questions can contact Walmart at 800-925-6278 or visit the company's website for more information.
