A forest fire near Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser in the Tyrolean Unterland (Kufstein district) triggered a major firefighting operation on Tuesday afternoon. Dense smoke was visible for miles around, and according to media reports, approximately 1,000 square meters of very rugged, rocky terrain were ablaze. Helicopter firefighting flights in the early evening apparently proved successful, and the fire did not spread further for the time being.
